Decoy pond known from eighteenth century map and surviving earthworks recorded during site visit Plan Form - STAR SHAPED STAR SHAPED FEATURE ON 1788 MAP APPROX AT NGR (B1). 'DECOY-POND WOOD' ON MAPS NEAR CALVERT STATION. POND NOW A DEPRESSION. PIPES UNTRACEABLE (B2). WOOD IS MOSTLY OAK/HAZEL/THORN BUT DECOY AREA IS SALIX/THORN SCRUB WITH SOME LARGER TREES. BANKS OF SQUARE [POND] STILL SUBSTANTIAL & HIGH WITH ARMS [PIPES] BANKED UP ABOVE SURROUND. MARSHY GROUND APPEARS 'GROOVED' FROM SOUTH BANK ONLY (B3).
