18th or 19th Century milestone on A4010 north east of Askett
Probable eighteenth or nineteenth century milestone beside A4010 north east of Askett. Squared stone pillar 24 inches high and 8 to 16 inches deep. Slightly tapered. Incised inscription with black paint: ' AYLESBURY 6 1/2 WYCOMBE 10 RISBOROUGH ? 'on side facing road. Bench mark on front. [ Drawings, location and photographs] (B1).
Recorded as present in 2002 on Milestones Society website on A4010 Wycombe to Aylesbury route National ID number BU_WYAY10. On west side of Aylesbury Road on wide grass verge by lane to Old Grange. 40cm wide 18cm deep 53cm high. Inscription: front: AYLESBURY ( ) WYCOMBE ( ) RISBORO. ' When paint goes so will inscription'.
