Description

18th or 19th Century milestone on A4010 north east of Askett Probable eighteenth or nineteenth century milestone beside A4010 north east of Askett. Squared stone pillar 24 inches high and 8 to 16 inches deep. Slightly tapered. Incised inscription with black paint: ' AYLESBURY 6 1/2 WYCOMBE 10 RISBOROUGH ? 'on side facing road. Bench mark on front. [ Drawings, location and photographs] (B1). Recorded as present in 2002 on Milestones Society website on A4010 Wycombe to Aylesbury route National ID number BU_WYAY10. On west side of Aylesbury Road on wide grass verge by lane to Old Grange. 40cm wide 18cm deep 53cm high. Inscription: front: AYLESBURY ( ) WYCOMBE ( ) RISBORO. ' When paint goes so will inscription'.
