18th or 19th Century milestone on A4010 in Princes Risborough
Probable eighteenth or nineteenth century milestone on A4010 on footway by wall within Princes Risborough. Stone pillar 33 inches high 12 by 9 inches deep leans back. Top mishapen may be original. Incised and painted with black paint. Front: 'LONDON 37 WYCOMBE ?. Benchmark on bottom at front. [ Drawings, location and photographs available ] (B1).
Recorded as present in 2002 on Milestones Society survey website on A4010 Wycombe to Aylesbury route National ID number BU_WYAY08. On west side of Wycombe Road on tarmac between grass verges. 32cm wide 32cm deep 84cm high. Carved benchmark. Inscription: front: LONDON 37 WYCOMBE 8. 'Renovated 2002 ? letters are transfers'.
