18th or 19th Century milepost on Buckingham to Brill road in Hillesden Probable eighteenth to nineteenth century cast iron milepost on Buckingham to Brill road in Hillesden parish one of 12 on this road recorded by P.N. Jarvis [Bletchley Archaeological and Historical Society] January 1965. North of Westfield Farm present on OS map. Painted figures. Inscription: 'BUCKINGHAM 4 BRILL 11'. [Drawing and location plan] (B1). Confirmed by handwritten notes,including field visits mostly in 1980s. Under " MILE POSTS BUCKINGHAM to BRILL. ( Max Davies only )". NGR: 669 286: Parish: Hillesden: Number on 1" OS 1835 : none: Leaning metal mile post: some painted letters etc: ( Brill 12 Buck. 4 ): Illustration as over and rough sketch.
