18th or 19th Century milepost on Buckingham to Brill road in Edgcott
Probable eighteenth or nineteenth century cast iron milepost recorded on Buckingham to Brill road in Edgcott on Buckingham Road by P. N. Jarvis [ Bletchley Archaeological and Historical Society ] in January 1965. One of 12 on this road. Next to May House. On OS map. Painted figures. Inscription: BUCKINGHAM 7 BRILL 8.' [ Drawing and location on card cosulted] (B1).
Recorded on Milestones Society website in 2010 as national ID number BU_BRBU08 on Brill to Buckingham route suveyed in 2002. 'Badly repainted in 2010'. North of Edgcott just before Perry Hill. On north east side of unclassified road. 52cm wide 29cm high 82cm high. Inscription varies from that recorded in 1965. Inscription: front face: left: BRILL 8: right: BUCKINGHAM: 8: top EDGECOT PARISH.
