18th or 19th Century milepost on Buckingham to Brill Road in Grendon Underwood Probable eighteenth to nineteenth century cast iron milepost on Buckingham to Brill road in Grendon Underwood on Main Street outside The Grove. Recorded by P.N. Jarvis [ Bletchley Archaeological and Historical Society ] in Jan 1965. One of 12 recorded on this road. Painted figures. Inscription: 'BUCKINGHAM 9 : BRILL 6'. [ Sample drawing and location consulted ] (B1). Recorded on Milestones Society website in 2010, surveyed in 2002. National ID number BU_BRBU06 on Brill to Buckingham route. 52cm wide 28cm deep 89 cm high. Inscription: BRILL 6. " Badly repainted in 2010". [ Photograph, detailed description and location available ] (B2). Confirmed by handwritten notes including field surveys some in the 1980s under tile:" MILE POSTS. BUCKINGHAM to BRILL. ( Max Davies only )."
