18th or 19th century milepost on Buckingham to Brill road in Gawcott Probable eighteenth to nineteenth century cast iron milepost on Buckingham to Brill road in Gawcott hamlet recorded by P.N.Jarvis [ Bletchley Archaeological and Historical Society ] in January 1965. One of 12 recorded on this road. Not on Bryants or Jefferies or historical maps on data base. Present on only one view of current OS map therefore position estimated from feature on aerial photo in front garden of Oldbrook. Painted figures. Inscription: BUCKINGHAM 2 : BRILL 13 . [ Sample drawing and location available ] (B1). Recorded as national ID number BU_BRBU14 on updated Milestones Society website in 2010 on Brill to Buckingham route. Diamond shape on unclassified road. Record marked with an X may be missing. Inscription differs from that recorded in 1965. Inscription: left: BRILL 14: right: BUCKINGHAM 2: top: BUCKINGHAM PARISH.
