18th or 19th Century milepost on A41 at Woodham, may be missing Missing probable eighteenth or nineteenth century cast iron milepost on A41 in the hamlet of Woodham near a barn east of turn to Woodham Industrial Estate. Missing from 1991 on Milestones Society website on Aylesbury to Bicester route National ID number BU_LCB46. Was on north side of road. 'Local farmer reports removed by Highways Agency'. Present on OS map. Inscription should be: top: LONDON 46 : left: TO AYLESBURY 8 MILES : right: TO BICESTER 8 MILES. [Description and location ] (B1). Confirmed by handwritten notes on microfiched OSD surveyors drawings (1814) and OSD 1'' map (1835) were in Bucks County Museum now in Centre for Bucks Studies. Museum number 27 sheet XXVII page 2 of notes. On Waddesdon to Kingswood (H2 + J3) route. Inscription: London 46 Bicester 8 In same notes under "H3 Milestones on Ground." On Bryant 1825 and OS 1" 1835. On current OS as Mile Post. Number on 1" OS 1835 45. Only milepost recorded on this route in these notes was at NGR 646 199 SMR no 1361100000. Sketch and description available. In same notes under Milestones and H in red box. 1820 Erection of MPs (Sparrows Herne Trust). Nos, 33, 35, 36, 37 still visible.
