18th or 19th Century milepost on B4011 in Chilton Probable eighteenth or nineteenth century cast iron milepost on the B4011 in Chilton parish by Hornage Farm. Recorded as present in 2010 on Milestones Society website on Thame to Blackthorn route National ID number BU_THBC04. On south side of road. ' Hidden in brambles found flat in 2010'. No dimensions recorded. Inscription illegible but was: left: BICESTER 10 MILES : right: THAME 4 MILES. [ Detailed description, location and photograph ] (B1). Confirmed by handwritten note on OS 1" (1835) was in Bucks County Museum now in Centre for Bucks Studies. Museum number 32 sheet XXXII page 3 of notes. Inscription: Bicester 10 Thame 4. Recorded as Bicester 11 Thame 4 on 'All Historic Layers' database. On Long Crendon to Brill (N) route. In same notes under ' MILE STONES [N.} Thame to Blackthorn'. NGR: 669 108. Parish: Chilton.
