Description

Late nineteenth century house and shop, rebuilt in Arts and Crafts style in 1887. 2 and a half storey town house, rebuilt in 1887, possibly by same builder as the later Hen and Chickens. Painted brick, 2 storeys and attic, old tile roof. Upper floors dominated by double height oriel bay, with elaborate gable including moulded detailing and pargetting – flowers, birds and date. Pargetting details continued in dormer window gable to left hand side. Original wooden windows remain on top floors, both sash and casement. Similar barley twist woodwork to Hen and Chickens. Green paintwork. Brick chimneystack to right hand side of roof. Modern shop front to ground floor with deep but divided fascias. Old photograph (1895) shows the shop as a milliners. Proposed for inclusion on local list (B1). Added to local list (B3).
