Late nineteenth century former public house known as the Saracen's Head, built in 1895.
The Saracen's Head public house was built in 1895 and is in the ornate Flemish/Domestic Revival style of the time and a style popular for pub architecture. It is on the west side of the junction with Upper Green Street and was built to serve the local community who mostly worked in the furniture factories at that time. A significant building within the Leigh Street Furniture Heritage Conservation Area (B1).
In 1895 the Saracen's Head moved from its old site in Frogmoor to a lavish pseudo-Indian building in Green Street to serve the area's new working-class customers (B2).
