Description

Nineteenth century village school, built in 1832 and in use until 1970. Lane End School, constructed in 1832 with funding from J M Elwes, a local brewer and benefactor, is of flint construction with brick dressings and gabled slate roof with decorative ridge crest. An additional schoolroom was built of brick in the early 1900s. Abrick and flint wall encloses both. The school ceased to operate by 1970. A significant building within Lane End Conservation Area (B1).
