18th to 19th Century milestone on Bridge Street in Buckingham, may be missing Probable eighteenth to nineteenth century milestone on A413. One of 14 possible milestones (two missing) between Buckingham and Aylesbury. On Bridge Srtreet Buckingham just north of New Inn PH. May be missing as not on current OS maps or more recent surveys but on 'All Historic Layers Map' inscription: London 57 Aylesbury 17.Confirmed by handwritten notes on microfiched OSD surveyors drawings (1814) County Museum number 13 sheet XII now in Centre for Bucks Studies. On page 1 of notes Centre for Bucks Studies . On Buckingham to Winslow (C6) route. In same notes under " MILESTONES ( In site 1986 except ? ) and in red C1/2/3/4/5/6/7 L1 and overleaf in blue N. from London". On OS 1" 1835, Bryant and Jefferies. 57: S. of Buckingham. ?. In same notes under Milestones and C in red box. In pencil [No mention of milestones in TMs up to 1808]. 1741 Geo.II c. 15 Cont. Act - MSs to be erected.TM. 1808 Mr. Herring to be paid when "[mile]stones properly and rightly spelt, are placed".TM. 1810 50 Geo.
