Description

Nineteenth century house in Church Road 19th century building constructed of brick and rendered. Unusual in the fact that the building is set back within its plot and orientated so that its gable faces onto the carriageway. Two storeys in height with shallow pitched gable roof laid in slate. Prominent brick chimney stack. Symmetrical window arrangement around central door on gable elevation. Asymmetrical window arrangement on elevation facing onto the allotments. At the time of writing the building is undergoing alterations. Despite being set back within its plot, the building is still visually prominent being located at the entrance to the village and being rendered. It is also visually prominent in views from the allotment where it forms part of the wider setting of St. Mary’s Church. Although it has been altered the building maintains its basic 19th century form and outline. This building forms part of a group of 19th century buildings found throughout Ivinghoe which reflect a period of significant development within the village. A local note building within the conservation area of Ivinghoe (B1).
