Description

Early to mid-nineteenth century thatched cottage, with later extensions Early-mid C19th, thatched and painted brick. Robin Cottage would appear to date back to the early C19th and forms part of the historic Chequers Lane grouping north of Cheddington Road. The building portrays aesthetic value through its detailing finishing treatments and traditional construction. It has historic value given its age and rarity as a vernacular survival and also has group value being part of Chequers Lane and Pitstone’s evolution. The building has been somewhat enveloped by modern development, but that also adds to its charm and interest as a remaining vestige of the historic environment context (B1). Probably shown on OS surveyor's 2-inch draft drawing of c1810 (B2).
