Description

Roman artefacts found in fieldwalking, metal-detecting and excavation on the line of the Amersham by-pass FOUND BY B STAINTON, D HUMPHRIES, S CAUVAIN, MEF. FINDS INCLUDE FLAKE, 1 MED RIM, 2 FRAGS TEGULAE, 12 RB SHERDS (00:001-2)(B1). SUBSEQUENT METAL DETECTING FINDS 5 BRONZE BOWLS, 1 DISH, SCEPTRE-HEAD (01:001-007). FURTHER DETECTING FINDS 2ND SCEPTRE-HEAD (B3-4). BYPASS BUILDING: FURTHER FINDS (02:000). Evaluation by AS&C in April 2003 at West Lodge found only redeposited Romano-British building material (chalk blocks and brick/tile fragments) possibly disturbed during C19 or C20 building works (B9).
