Description

Probable medieval windmill mound surviving as earthworks. Dimensions - Radius 1150 Height 0160 cm Plan Form - CIRCULAR FLAT TOPPED, EXCEPT FOR 2M WIDE DEPRESSION NEAR CENTRE. UNDAMAGED, THOUGH DITCH SEEN ON S SIDE IN 1973 EFFACED IN 1977. POSSIBLE CAUSEWAY ON S SIDE. PRE-DATES RIG & FURROW (MOUND NEAR HEADLAND). PROB A MILL MOUND. WELL KNOWN LOCALLY: ASSOC WITH DEVIL (B1- 2). REF TO WINDMILL IN C15 (BUT SEE ALSO CASS 00246)(B3).
